Ealing Butchers & Charcutier – specialize in tasty, native bred, free range and organic meat.

Ealing Butchers & Charcutier are a butchers based in Ealing selling only the finest quality domestic breed and grass fed meat. They are located about a minute away from Ealing Common Tube Station. Their new website was launched on the 8th October 2015.

The Brief

Ealing Butchers & Charcutier required a new website to replace their existing holding page. The business already had a colour scheme, branding and logo and required a website to match this. The primary target audience for the website was to be potential customers who lived in the Ealing and the surrounding area, particularly those interested in the quality and provenance of their food. Prominence was to be given to the location of the business as well as the high quality of the products sold, the ethics of the business and the skill and experience of the proprietor.

What We Did

Firstly we developed use cases for the target audience to clarify how visitors would use the website. This allowed us to prioritize the main elements of the brief. We then came up with some draft layouts that focused on the location, the products and the specials offered by the business. The aim was to have a single page website with quick links to specific areas of the page detailing those aspects of the business. Once this layout was approved we created a mock-up design containing info boxes with links and a menu that linked to areas further down the page.

Below this was a newsletter form so that visitors could sign up for recipes and ideas as well as special offers. Next was a slideshow of current special offers. Beneath this section were further details on the range of products offered by Ealing Butchers & Charcutier with information on how they are sourced as well as a gallery of images. Finally there was to be a contact section giving information on how to contact the business as well as a map.

We made some alterations to the design at this point based on client feedback. Once the design was approved we moved onto building the website itself. To ensure that the website was viewable on all devices from mobiles to desktops we built it responsive from the ground up.

Result

The Ealing Butchers and Charcutier website was produced in HTML5 and CSS3, this was then converted into a WordPress theme for use on the WordPress CMS platform, allowing the client to have full control of the website and future updates, themselves.

The client also decided to have their website hosted by us on our Business Package.
